North Miami Farmers Market Highlights
The North Miami Farmers Market is going strong, with new vendors every week, always of the highest quality. Everyone involved is proud to be a part of it and visitors continuously share their enthusiasm towards it. This week in particular I was excited about one of our new vendors, Proper Sausages. They are a small local company, owned and run by a bright young couple, producing some of the best sausages I’ve ever tried; having grown up in an Argentinian household, that says a lot! What I love the most about Proper Sausages is that Freddy and Danielle, the owners, are clearly passionate about their work and they aren’t cutting corners; their product is made with high quality ingredients and their packaging is adorable. I took home some of each of their flavors on Thursday, The Dub, The Fig and Blue Cheese and The Blue Collar which I thoroughly enjoyed for dinner with roasted veggies and greens. Thanks guys!
Do they have the cutest packaging or what?!
Some of the other awesome finds at the market this week:
It's strawberry season in South Florida, YES! Nothing smells better than freshly picked strawberries. Urban Oasis Project brought them from Pine Island Farm.
One of the best deals at the market is brought by Here's Help, a local rehab program that uses culinary classes to help the youth. Their vegetarian cooking has been gracing our market with young energy and delicious lunch. One of my favorites is their tortilla bowls which they fill with butternut squash soup, risotto or salads.
My very own Watermelon radishes and Rainbow carrots were looking beautiful this week. Here's Andrea, who's been an amazing help at the market alongside our partners from Urban Oasis Project, Antonio and Art. Working with a team like this makes even a slow market day worthwhile!
A Mar Express is a new local seafood business, family owned and run. They know their fish and their fish is fresh, as you can clearly see by the eyes of these colorful snappers staying cool in an ice bath.
